Sichuan Agriculture University (SAU)

Founded in 1906, Sichuan Agricultural University (SAU) – 四川农业大学 is one of the oldest agricultural universities in China. The university has three campuses, with its headquarters in Ya’an, and additional campuses in Chengdu and Dujiangyan.

SAU comprises 27 colleges, four research institutes, and two state key laboratories, covering a wide range of academic disciplines, including Agronomy, Sciences, Engineering, Economics, Management, Medicine, Literature, Education, Law, and Art. The university has a faculty of over 3,440 members, including 487 professors and 601 associate professors. It enrolls more than 44,000 full-time students, including 36,000 undergraduates and 8,600 graduate students.

For many years, SAU has maintained strong academic relations with German research institutions and has established a Center for German Research (Zentrum für Deutschland Forschung). German partner institutions include the University of Bonn (Agricultural Science Department), the University of Applied Sciences Südwestfalen (student exchange in agricultural disciplines), the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) (joint research projects and publications), and the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (which signed a 2016 cooperation agreement on scientific collaboration for implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals – UN-SDGs).

SAU has several campuses in Ya’an, in Chengdu, and Dujiangyan.
