The Sichuan Institute of Edible Fungi of the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS) has been engaged in the research and development of edible fungi since the late 1970s. After the efforts of several generations of scientific researchers, it has developed into an influential scientific research institution in the field of edible fungi research and development in the country. Focusing on the needs of industrial development, the institute promotes the exploration and utilization of edible and medicinal fungi germplasm resources, the breeding of new high-quality and high-yielding edible fungi varieties, research on efficient and simple cultivation technology, research on factory-based intelligent cultivation technology, research on green and safe storage and transportation preservation technology, and research on edible fungi development.
It also works on the processing of bacterial essence products, the exploration, evaluation, and utilization of agricultural microbial germplasm resources, and long-term positioning observation. The institute has 3,000 square meters of laboratories equipped with complete sets of instruments and equipment for germplasm resource preservation, factory cultivation, variety selection, bacterial strain expansion, functional component mining, and product processing. It also operates an edible fungus factory and has more than 80 acres of demonstration base, including a pilot platform for chemical cultivation technology research, an edible fungus liquid strain expansion production line, and an edible fungus product processing GMP workshop.
