The Zhuanghang Comprehensive Experiment Station of Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS), located in Zhuanghang Town in the southwest of Fengxian District, Shanghai, spans an area of approximately 2,250 mu. The station employs 22 staff members along with 77 contract workers. It is organized into distinct areas for high-quality grain and oil crops, facility vegetables and fruit trees, water-saving agriculture, exotic organism introduction isolation, and standardized breeding, in addition to a comprehensive service center. The station serves as an innovative experimental and demonstration base, integrating technological advancements, achievement showcases, technology promotion, scientific education, and agricultural tourism, all while following the principles of a circular economy in agriculture.
The station is involved in a variety of projects related to superior agricultural disciplines such as high-quality Japonica rice, water-saving and drought-resistant rice, barley, double-low oilseed rape, fruit trees, facility vegetables, watermelons, breeding pigs, breeding chickens, edible fungi, and agro-ecological environmental management. The Zhuanghang Comprehensive Experiment Station focuses on the strategic goal of developing an internationally influential, first-class, urban-type modern agriculture with unique characteristics. Its research and demonstration efforts are aimed at achieving global, directional, and strategic agricultural science and technology innovations.
The station plays a crucial role in advancing key agricultural technologies, accelerating the application of scientific and technological achievements, and providing robust support to ensure the safety of food and agricultural products. It also contributes to enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainable development, leading the way in agricultural modernization, and offering services to agricultural efforts across the country.
