The Crop Research Institute of Jiangxi Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JXAAS) specializes in oilseeds and specialty cash crops. The institute primarily conducts basic theoretical and applied research on the identification, discovery, and innovative utilization of germplasm resources for oilseeds such as rapeseed, peanut, soybean, sesame, and other oilseed crops. It also focuses on the key technologies of specialty cash crops like maize, sweet potato, potato, and yam, including the genetic basis of important traits, their improvement, breeding techniques, new variety development, and green and efficient cultivation practices. Additionally, the institute carries out experimental demonstrations and the popularization of new varieties of oilseeds and characteristic cash crops, along with modern production technology. The institute employs 57 staff members.
