The Institute of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development of Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CQAAS) was established in June 2007. It includes the Agricultural Industrial Economics Innovation Team and the Rural Reform Discipline Innovation Team.
The institute focuses on the overall, strategic, and forward-looking issues related to the development of the “Three Rural Areas” (agriculture, rural areas, and farmers) in Chongqing. It carries out research on agricultural industrial economics and planning design, rural reform and development, agricultural resource zoning, agricultural science and technology innovation, and third-party monitoring and evaluation. The institute provides decision-making support for the Party committee and government and offers technical consulting services for market players.
The institute employs 12 researchers.
