The Institute of Agricultural Economics and Scientific and Technological Information of Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (FAAS) was founded in 1979. It currently employs 53 people.
The institute mainly focuses on research related to agricultural economy and rural development, including agricultural development in Fujian and Taiwan, rural development and policy, and industrial economy and science and technology. It also provides scientific and technological services such as research and retrieval consulting and scientific journal publishing. The institute edits and publishes three academic journals: Journal of Agriculture in Fujian, Agricultural Science and Technology in Fujian, and Agricultural Explorations of Taiwan.
The institute is recognized as the Key Cultivator of New Think Tanks in Fujian Province and the High-end Think Tank for Rural Revitalization in Fujian Province. It was the first institution in mainland China to engage in Taiwan agricultural research, and its studies on Taiwan agriculture, Fujian-Taiwan cooperation, and rural regional development are well-respected and influential in the country. Since November 2000, it has been designated as the Taiwan Agricultural Research Center of Fujian Province. The institute’s Taiwan Agricultural Science and Technology Information Database and Taiwan Agricultural Economy and Trade Information Database have become the most important Taiwan agricultural information resources in mainland China.
