The Agricultural Machinery Research Institute of Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CQAAS) was established in 2006. The institute is located in Baishiyi Town, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing, covering an area of 5.33 hectares with a building area of 12,000 square meters. The institute employs 32 staff members.
Since its establishment, the institute has created several key scientific and technological innovation platforms, including the Southwest Potato Mechanization Research Base of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Modern Agricultural Equipment Innovation Center in Southwest Hilly Mountainous Areas, the Chongqing Digital Design Engineering and Technology Research Center for Mountainous Agricultural Machines, the Chongqing Engineering Research Center for Agricultural Machinery, and the Chongqing Municipal Agricultural Mechanization Pilot Base.
The institute focuses on applied research, product development, and the popularization of machinery for the cultivation, planting, management, and harvesting of main crops. It also works on agricultural product drying and processing machinery and intelligent technology and equipment for agricultural machinery in hilly and mountainous areas. Notable breakthroughs have been made in the development of small crawler chassis, mountain rape planters, small vertical axis flow rice and wheat combine harvesters, and tea automated processing equipment.
