Institute of Agricultural Quality Standards and Testing Technology

The Institute of Agricultural Quality Standards and Testing Technology of Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (FAAS) was founded in 1983. The institute specializes in agricultural product quality and safety innovation research and testing technology services. It has been engaged in agricultural product testing for more than 20 years. Currently, the institute employs 70 people.

The institute undertakes supervision and inspection of agricultural product quality at the provincial, municipal, and county levels, providing safety testing, technical training, nutritional quality identification, pesticide residue evaluation, and other technical services to ensure the quality and safety of agricultural products such as grains, tea, fruits, vegetables, livestock and poultry, and aquatic products.

The institute has six research laboratories, including:

  • Risk Assessment of Agricultural Product Quality and Safety
  • Testing Technology of Agricultural Product Quality and Safety
  • Process Control of Agricultural Product Quality and Safety
  • Characteristic Quality Labeling of Agricultural Products
  • Holographic Evaluation of Agricultural Germplasm Resources
  • Aquatic Product Quality and Safety

The institute serves as the Risk Assessment Laboratory for Agricultural Product Quality and Safety of MARA (Fuzhou), the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Product Quality and Safety of Fujian Province, the National Nutritional Evaluation and Appraisal Organization for Famous, Specialty, and New Agricultural Products, and the National Center for the Whole Process Quality Control of Famous, Specialty, and New Agricultural Products. It also provides a service platform for the integration of science, technology, and economy of agricultural product quality, safety, and nutritional health in Fujian Province, and serves as the Pesticide Residue Test Unit of MARA. In addition, the institute operates 13 provincial and ministerial-level platforms, such as the Green Food Designated Testing Organization.

With CMA and CATL qualifications for product quality inspections, the institute offers testing services for more than 1,600 items, including pesticide (veterinary) drug residues, trace elements, heavy metals, microorganisms, biotoxins, nutrients such as proteins, amino acids, polysaccharides, polyphenols, flavonoids, vitamins, and aromatic flavor substances.
