The Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Fujian Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences (FAAS) was founded in 1960. The institute currently employs 102 people. It has established research laboratories in areas such as animal nutrition, genetic breeding, animal viruses, avian diseases, and livestock diseases.
The institute also has 6 scientific and technological service platforms, which include:

- Provincial Industry-University-Research Cooperation Demonstration Base
- Provincial Pig Industry Technology Innovation Alliance
- Provincial Waterfowl Industry Technology Innovation Alliance
- Diagnosis and Treatment Center for Livestock, Poultry, and Aquatic Diseases
- Editorial Department of “Fujian Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine”
Additionally, there are 9 R&D platforms, including:
- CNAS-accredited Animal Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory (P3) and Animal Disease Detection Center
- State Key Laboratory of Veterinary Biotechnology – Joint Laboratory of Collaborative Innovation of Waterfowl Epidemics in FAAS
- Fujian Livestock and Poultry Molecular Genetic Breeding Laboratory
- Fujian Livestock and Poultry Epidemic Disease Prevention and Control Engineering Technology Research Center
- Fujian Livestock and Poultry Epidemic Disease Prevention and Control Industry Technological Innovation and Research Institute
The institute also operates two industrial research institutes: the Fujian Hualong Pig Industry Research Institute and the Fujian Guangyang Egg and Duck Industry Research Institute. In addition, there are more than 30 scientific and technological demonstration bases across the province.
