The Plant Protection Research Institute of Fujian Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences (FAAS) was established in 1978. The institute primarily conducts scientific research and control of crop diseases, insects, and grass pests. It has made significant achievements in areas such as predatory mite research and biological control, intelligent monitoring and molecular detection of crop pests, resistance identification of major crop varieties, research and application of insect pheromones, environmental safety evaluation of biopesticides and pesticides, and the informatization of plant protection technology. The institute currently employs 64 people.
It has national and provincial innovation platforms such as the Fuzhou Crop Pest Scientific Observatory and Experimental Station of MARA, Pesticide Registered Efficacy Test Unit of MARA, Pesticide Registered Environmental Test Unit of MARA, East China Sub-Center of the National Center for Agricultural Biosecurity Science, Key Laboratory of Monitoring and Management of Crop Pests in Fujian Province, Fujian Provincial Natural Enemy Resource Engineering Research Center of Agricultural Pests, Fujian Provincial Engineering Research Center of Resistance to Crop Varieties, and Fujian Provincial Crop Variety Resistance Engineering and Technology Research Center.
