The Jiangxi Super Rice Research and Development Center was established in 2012. It is a provincial-level agricultural research unit that focuses on the excavation and utilization of important rice germplasm resources, selection and breeding of new varieties, demonstration and promotion of new varieties, experimental research in genetics and biology, foreign scientific and technological cooperation, and the transfer of scientific and technological achievements. The center has 28 employees.
The Super Rice Center operates three research laboratories: the Super Rice Research Laboratory, Genetic Engineering Research Laboratory, and Green Super Rice Research Laboratory.
Through the national MARA Jiangxi province crop variety validation committee, 40 rice varieties have been validated, including Rongyou 225 and Jiyou 225, which are recognized as super rice. The varieties represented by Rongyou 225 have been popularized over 2 million hectares nationwide.
