The Oilseed Crops Research Institute of Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CQAAS) focuses on research and development of high-yield, high-oil-content, early-maturing, machine-friendly, and multi-resistant rapeseed varieties, along with supporting cultivation technologies. It conducts research on rapeseed physiological ecology, efficient and simplified cultivation techniques, and rapeseed processing and product development. Additionally, the institute carries out research on specialty oilseed crops such as soybeans, peanuts, and sesame, focusing on the breeding of dense and wide-adapted soybeans, ultra-high-protein soybeans, high-heat-resistant soybeans, and ultra-small-grain edible peanuts, along with cost-effective and efficient seed production technologies.
The institute has four specialized research teams: the Rapeseed Germplasm Resources Collection and Creation Team, the High-Oil Rapeseed Varieties Innovation Team, the Specialty Oilseed Innovation Team, and the Industrial Technology Innovation Team. It currently has 30 employees.
