The Tea Research Institute of Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CQAAS) focuses on tea breeding, cultivation, pest control, tea processing, tea resource diversification, and other technological innovation research. The institute also integrates demonstration and promotion, and provides tea science and technology services, including guiding tea technology personnel training.
The research teams at the institute specialize in tea germplasm resources and genetic breeding, ecological cultivation, pest control, processing and equipment, and diversified use of tea resources.
The institute has 59 employees and is associated with several scientific research platforms, including the Tea Biology and Resource Utilization of the State Key Laboratory Southwest Experimental Station, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s tea seed breeding base, Chongqing Tea Engineering Technology Research Center, Chongqing Tea Science and Technology Experts College, Chongqing Tea Variety Testing and Characterization Base, Tea Seed Industry Innovation Base, Chongqing Intelligent Agriculture Experiment and Demonstration Base, and Chongqing Tea Technology Innovation Center.
