DCZ’s S&T platform is a joint project by the DCZ and the Department of International Cooperation at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). The S&T platform has been established to promote exchange and research collaboration in agricultural sciences between both countries as well as in international contexts.
The history of the S&T platform dates back to 2015, when CAAS and DCZ signed their first Memorandum of Understanding. Ever since, the platform has successfully provided advice to German and Chinese researchers. It also implemented a series of activities such as conferences, study tours, and the Sino-German Agricultural Science days to promote exchange in agricultural sciences between both countries.
The S&T platform works closely with research institutes operating under the umbrella of the CAAS as well as institutes affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA). On the German side, the S&T platform cooperates with Federal Research Institutes affiliated with the Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and Leibniz Institutes related to agriculture and nutrition. Moreover, the platform has well established contacts to agricultural departments of various universities in both countries.
The S&T platform is managed by the DCZ Science Dialogue and the CAAS Division for Bilateral Cooperation of the Department for International Cooperation. For more information, please contact us at email@example.com.
The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) is China’s major research facility and think tank for agricultural sciences. With 34 institutes, 9 joint institutes in 19 provinces, 11,300 researchers, and more than 5,000 graduate students, it covers the whole range of topics related to agricultural sciences. The CAAS features several national key laboratories, the national bank for long-term crop germplasm resources, and Asia’s largest agricultural library. It also maintains strong relationships with the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS) and the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS), as well as to the Provincial Academies of Agricultural Sciences and the agricultural universities.
