Conducting variety trials

This guide provides practical knowledge and instructions for conducting variety trials on old vegetable varieties, aimed at practitioners and conservation organizations involved in preserving these varieties. It focuses on the challenges and opportunities of reintroducing these varieties into commercial vegetable production, which may offer unique regional significance or traits despite lower yields and extended harvest periods. Developed within the ZENPGR project, the guide includes methodologies and experiences from on-farm trials conducted in 2021 and 2022, with detailed trial protocols for five vegetable types (bush beans, peas, radishes, beets, and orache).
