The College of Agriculture at South China Agricultural University (SCAU) is one of the university’s oldest and most established colleges. To date, it has produced more than 10,000 graduates, including many international students from Southeast Asia.
The college hosts several key national and provincial research platforms, including the National Plant Space Breeding Engineering and Technology Research Center, the State Key Laboratory of Conservation and Utilization of Subtropical Agricultural Biological Resources, the Key Laboratory of Molecular Breeding of Plants in Guangdong Province, and the Guangdong Branch of the National Center for Soybean Improvement. Additional platforms include the Branch Center for Testing New Plant Varieties of MARA (Guangzhou), the Observatory of Crop Cultivation Science for South China Experimental Station of MARA, the Key Laboratory for Efficient Utilization of Crop Resources in South China MARA, and the Lingnan Rice Germplasm Resource Base Bank. These platforms support scientific research and community services in areas such as the breeding of new varieties of rice, southern soybean, and corn, as well as the development of efficient and sustainable crop cultivation methods.
The college currently has 109 active faculty members, including 77 full-time teachers.
