College of Grassland Agriculture

The College of Grassland Agriculture at Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU) offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The college has 36 faculty members and a student body of approximately 201 undergraduates, 97 master’s students, and 23 doctoral students.

Research at the college focuses on grass germplasm resources and abiotic stress biology, forage physiology and production, forage breeding and seed science, forage products and forage-animal systems, turfgrass science and management, grassland ecological theory and techniques, and grassland informatization and monitoring.

The college maintains extensive international collaborations, including partnerships with Technical University of Munich (TU Munich). It has also participated in EU Horizon 2020 projects and a China-EU Intergovernmental Science and Technology Cooperation Special Project.

Notable research projects include “Breeding Forage and Grain Legumes to Increase EU’s and China’s Protein Self-Sufficiency” (2017–2021) under the EU Horizon 2020 program, and “Forage and Bean Crop Breeding to Improve EU and China Protein Self-Sufficiency” (2018–2021), supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Intergovernmental National Science and Technology Cooperation Special Project.
