College of Horticulture

The College of Horticulture at Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) is one of the earliest-established institutions for advanced training in horticultural sciences in China. Its origins can be traced back to the Department of Horticulture at the former National Central University (1921) and the former University of Nanking (1927).

Currently, the college offers six undergraduate majors: Horticulture, Landscaping, Tea Science, Landscape Architecture, Medicinal Materials, and Protected Agriculture Science and Engineering. Among these, Horticulture is recognized as a National Featured Constructive Program and a Key Discipline in Jiangsu Province.

The college operates a postdoctoral research station in Horticulture, along with six doctoral authorization centers in Pomology, Vegetable Science, Tea Science, Ornamental Horticulture, Medicinal Botany, and Horticulture, and six master’s authorization centers in Pomology, Vegetable Science, Ornamental Plants and Horticulture, Urban Planning and Design, Tea Science, and Medicinal Materials. Additionally, the college offers three professional master’s programs: Master of Agricultural Extension, Master of Landscape Architecture, and Master of Medicinal Materials.

The college has 160 faculty members and a student body of 2,069, including 1,272 undergraduate students and 797 full-time graduate students.

The college hosts two key research platforms: the Key Laboratory of Biology and Genetic Improvement of Horticultural Crops (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs) and the Engineering Research Center of Horticultural Crop Germplasm Enhancement and Utilization (Ministry of Education).
