The College of Horticulture at Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU) traces its origins back to 1934 when it was established as the Horticulture Group of Northwest A&F College. It began enrolling undergraduate students in 1936, master’s students in 1961, and PhD students in 1986. Since 2008, the college has also accepted international students. In 2000, the Department of Horticulture at Northwest Agricultural University, the Shaanxi Institute of Pomology, and the Shaanxi Institute of Vegetables and Flowers merged to form the College of Horticulture at NWAFU.
The college consists of five teaching departments: Pomology, Vegetable Science, Protected Horticultural Engineering and Science, Ornamental Horticulture, and Tea Sciences. It is equipped with one Laboratory Center, one National Germplasm Resource Nursery, and 20 professional experimental demonstration bases to support education and research.
Currently, the college hosts approximately 1,500 students, including 930 graduate students. It has an extensive international exchange network, including collaborations with Germany, and has trained international students as part of its global academic engagement.
