The College of Resources and Environment at Southwest University (SWU) encompasses four first-level disciplines: agriculture, engineering, science, and management. With 155 active faculty members, the college offers a PhD program in Agricultural Resources and Environment, including soil science, and a master’s program in Environmental Science and Engineering, covering areas such as soil and water conservation and desertification control. Undergraduate programs include Agricultural Resources and Environment, Environmental Science and Engineering, Forestry, Soil and Water Conservation and Desertification Control, and Land Resources Management. The Agricultural Resources and Environment specialty is recognized as a national featured specialty. The college enrolls around 1,600 students, with 600 postdoctoral, doctoral, and master’s students.
The college maintains long-term strategic partnerships with renowned research institutes and universities in countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, India, Egypt, and Turkey. These collaborations involve academic exchanges, joint scientific research, and graduate student training. The college also hosts two national-level platforms: the base for “Efficient Utilization of Nutrients and Prevention and Control of Surface Pollution in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area” and the International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Base for “Three Gorges Reservoir Area Water Environment Monitoring and Simulation”.
