The College of Resources and Environmental Sciences (CRES) was established in April 1992 through the merger of the Department of Soil & Plant Nutrition, the Department of Land Resources, the Department of Agro-meteorology, and the Remote Sensing Institute.
CRES currently operates two research centers: the Research Center of Resource Sciences and the Research Center of Ecological Sciences. The Research Center of Resource Sciences includes the Department of Soil & Water Science, the Department of Land Resource & Management, and the Department of Agro-meteorology. The Research Center of Ecological Sciences comprises the Department of Plant Nutrition, the Department of Environmental Science & Engineering, and the Department of Ecological Science & Engineering.
The college has 136 faculty members and offers a comprehensive academic system covering undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral education. It is home to two State Key Disciplines, two Provincial or Ministerial Key Disciplines, one Ministry of Education (MOE) Key Laboratory, two Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) Key Laboratories, and four research centers. Additionally, CRES has established six field stations across China, including the Quzhou MOA Key Field Station for Agricultural Resources and Ecological Environment and the Hohhot MOA Key Field Station for the Environment of the Agri-Pasture Ecozone.
CRES actively engages in international collaboration with institutions in Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, and the European Union.
