This case study highlights efforts in Berlin-Brandenburg to preserve and market old vegetable varieties through collaboration between organic farms, universities, and the VERN association. At the center is a farm producing heirloom vegetables like radishes, bush beans, and Brussels sprouts, which are listed on the “Red List of Endangered Native Crops”. By integrating these varieties into direct farm sales and organic markets, the initiative combines biodiversity conservation with consumer education and demand for unique flavors.
