The College of Animal Sciences at Zhejiang University consists of three departments: Animal Science & Technology, Veterinary Medicine, and Special Economic Animal Science. Its faculty is organized into six research institutes: Feed Sciences, Preventive Veterinary Medicine, Dairy Science, Animal Breeding, Husbandry & Environmental Engineering, Sericulture & Apiculture, and Applied Bio-Resources. The college offers undergraduate programs in Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine and graduate programs leading to PhD degrees in Animal Science and Preventive Veterinary Medicine.
The college houses one National Engineering Laboratory, one Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, two Key Laboratories of the Ministry of Agriculture, and two Key Laboratories of Zhejiang Province. Its “Animal Digestive System Development and Function” research team is recognized by the Ministry of Education as a Science and Technology Innovation Team, while the “Feed Research and Safety” and “Major Animal Infectious Diseases Prevention and Treatment” teams are designated as key innovation teams by Zhejiang Province.
Currently, the college has 157 faculty members and 779 enrolled students, including 330 undergraduates, 277 master’s students, 158 doctoral candidates, and 14 international students pursuing MS or PhD degrees.
